On Gowns and Dresses

My friend got me a bridal magazine for my birthday. Browsing through the pages, I fell in love with this gown:

I think it's the bowler hat that got me hooked. I also wanted a tube top, and something simple.

And this was simple.

When we visited Tenantz's godmother last week, I showed her the picture. Too plain, Tenantz said. Plus he hates the bowler hat. "Yung damit yung tinatandaan sa wedding, dapat maganda at bongga ang gown," she said. I tried to recall all the weddings I've been to. Never remembered the dress. I remember the over-all ambience, the video clips, and sometimes the food. But not really what the bride wore. Hmm. Maybe that's just me. Maybe everybody notices the dress except me.

So I keep on browsing, and I found another gown I liked...the magazine had a picture of the back-view of the gown. I liked the back-view, and thought of combining it with the original gown I liked. I just thought of browsing the web today, and voila! It turns out the front view of that gown really does resemble the other gown.

Yes, I know it's still too simple for Tenantz's ninang's taste. She's the one who'll sew the gown. She told me that since the wedding is in March, we can start getting measurements by December or January next year. I think it's a bit of a rush. What if I didn't like how she sews? She seems to veer on the bongga side of things. Lots of beadings and embroideries. Eh mahal daw yung ganun. Pero parang ganun yung gusto nya. Hmm.

Here's another gown that caught my attention. Ayan, mas marami nang beadings yan ha.

But it's actually still too simple daw. We compromised...she said she'll sew beadings at the top, and at the train of the first gown I showed her. I have no idea how it'll look. I'm pretty sure she won't be drawing the design. What if magulat na lang ako na ganun na pala itsura ng gown? What if the gown turns out to not be "me"? I'm a bit worried, but I bite my tongue anyway.

And this one's for the bridesmaids...although medyo pangit pala yung cut nung full-body na. Pero maganda sya tingnan nung nasa magazine.

Or maybe they can wear something spaghetti-like, like this, but longer:

I'm also thinking of including my female nieces in the entourage. You know, include relatives. So I'm thinking of making them ushers. I wonder what they'll wear...and I still have no idea what the flower girls will be wearing.

But that's okay. Matagal pa naman diba.
